Peru Has the Beautiful Andes Mountain Range. With high peaks and steep canyons making this terrain a very magnificent place. The US government is one of four states actively involved in facilitating the 1998 Peace Accord between Peru and Ecuador. Peru has been a member of the UN since 1949. US investment and tourism have grown substantially in recent years. Approximately 200,000 US citizens visit Peru annually for business and tourism. Around 16,000 US American citizens reside in Peru, and more than 400 US Companies are represented in the country.

Free Trade Agreements Launched. In April 2006, Peru signed a Free Trade Agreement with the US becoming the 2nd country in South America to sign. Peru is currently in negotiations with Chili, Mexico, Singapore and India. There are tight controls on inflation in Peru, and reasonable mortgage rates.
